2nd NTO webinar of the "Tax & Crime" series

On 4 February 2021, the Network of Tax Organizations will host its second webinar of the “Tax and Crime” series on “Exchange of Information and Inter-Agency Cooperation in Combating Tax Crimes”.

The NTO has launched a series of online seminars on "Tax & Crime". The first webinar took place in October 2020, discussing Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs), the impact of IFFs on tax administration activities and best practices to combat them. The second edition will seek to deepen the topic, focusing on the issue of exchange of information (EoI) and inter-agency cooperation in the area of tax and crime, based on different country-experiences.

The objective of this webinar is to promote a fruitful discussion on how to address some of the main bottlenecks regarding the exchange of information and cooperation in the fight against tax crimes, such as the lack of clear communication channels, suitable legal frameworks, uncertainties about the mandate in the counterpart country, and other challenges for better coordination, timely and effective responses. The seminar aims to foster an understanding of the challenges identified and how to overcome them, considering the scope for regional and international tax organisations to contribute to this endeavour.
