Lima, Peru / 8 May 2015
On May 8th, in Lima, Peru, a workshop organized jointly by the Inter-American center of tax administrations (CIAT), The International Tax Compact (ITC), and the World Bank Group, was held on the topic of “Technology for better compliance: The advances of science and technology to support the tax administration”.
This activity, that had participants from more than 60 countries and two private sector companies, allowed both the public and private sector actors to discuss and share the advancements of science and technology relevant to tax issues. Special attention was given to the improvement of compliance with pre-filled returns, as well as with complex analysis and patter recognition to create models that accurately anticipate taxpayer behavior.
The event acted as a prelude to the CIAT Technology Fair that will be held in Miami in 2016. This fair will allow tax officials to interact directly with product providers that could translate to substantial benefits for their respective administrations.
