Virtual ATI General Assembly to take place in fall 2020

With the presentation of the new ATI Outcome Document for post-2020, the 2020 ATI General Assembly will mark an important milestone in tax and development.

On behalf of the ATI Steering Committee, the Secretariat of the Addis Tax Initiative (ATI) would like to announce that the ATI General Assembly has been postponed and will be held virtually in fall 2020.

The 2020 ATI General Assembly was scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 9 to 10 September, but has had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, as there is no reliable nor binding information about the lifting of the worldwide prevalent travel restrictions, the ATI Steering Committee agreed not to have a face-to-face General Assembly meeting in September 2020. The ATI Steering Committee appreciates the Kenya Revenue Authority’s offer to host the event and its prevalent willingness to host an ATI event in the future.

The ATI General Assembly provides a platform for members to reflect on current progress towards achieving the ATI commitments, the strategic direction of the Addis Tax Initiative, and any propositions put forward by the ATI Steering Committee. It is a valuable opportunity to renew momentum towards financing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The 2020 ATI General Assembly will mark an important milestone in tax and development, as the ATI post-2020 Task Force will present the new ATI Outcome Document for post-2020 to be endorsed by the ATI members.

A new save-the-date will be circulated in due course.
