The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) is a multilateral initiative launched by a group of African governments in 2009. ATAF offers a platform for tax administrators to articulate African tax priorities, develop best practices, and build capacity in African tax policy and administration through peer learning and knowledge sharing. Since it was launched in 2009, ATAF has grown into an autonomous international organization currently counting 39 member countries from the African continent. The organization has been supported from the beginning by a group of bilateral donors, including SECO. The organization has developed steadily, establishing its institutional structure and growing its membership base - attesting to both the need and relevance of the organization in creating a space for sharing lessons, developing skills and promoting sound taxation practice in Africa. ATAF plays an important role for fostering Domestic Resource Mobilization in continent.
