Global Partnerships Conference

By the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office

The Global Partnerships Conference hosted by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), will bring together a diverse coalition of governments, international organisations, philanthropists, investors, innovators, civil society, business and technology leaders on 19 & 20 May.

The Conference aims to create new partnerships that address common challenges, mobilise investment, promote resilient growth led by countries themselves, and strengthen international cooperation, helping the UK and its partners become safer, more resilient, and more prosperous.

Taking place in London, UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper will co-host, alongside the Republic of South Africa, independent philanthropic organisation Children’s Investment Fund Foundation and the UK’s impact investor and development finance institution, British International Investment.

The event will explore how the UK can reshape its future cooperation, responding to calls for a shift from a traditional donor role towards an investor-oriented approach. It will examine practical solutions to mobilise finance, use new technologies, and support local leadership in addressing these challenges. The Conference will also seek to establish agreements built on broader, more modern partnerships that help countries expand their economies, strengthen self-reliance, and reduce long-term dependence on aid.
