Zambia becomes the newest member of the Addis Tax Initiative
The Addis Tax Initiative (ATI) is excited to welcome Zambia as its newest member and latest partner country. Zambia’s membership strengthens ATI’s global commitment in building strong partnerships and cooperation for the improvement of fair and efficient domestic revenue mobilisation (DRM).
Over the years, Zambia has demonstrated consistent commitments towards improving its economic outcomes and DRM efforts via reforms in its mining sector, among others. As a member of the Inclusive Framework on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) committed to the four minimum standards, Zambia applied the BEPS Assessment Tool to identify and overcome challenges faced when implementating the BEPS measures. Furthermore, Zambia also recently assessed the progressiveness, transparency, and accountability of its national tax systems.
The ATI looks forward to actively cooperate with Zambia and all other partner countries, development partners, and supporting organisations to catalyse DRM in order to respond to the current fiscal crisis and economic shocks that result from the COVID-19 pandemic and ultimately achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
