STRENGTHENING PACIFIC FINANCIAL SYSTEMS AND FISCAL POLICY INITIATIVE

The Pacific Financial Technical Assistance Centre (PFTAC) is the IMF's capacity development arm in the Pacific. The IMF's capacity development work covering technical assistance and training is one of the three core functions of the IMF along with surveillance and lending. This work supports the efforts of Pacific IMF member countries to build the institutions and capacity necessary to formulate and implement sound economic and financial policies.The IMF's capacity development work through PFTAC is focused on those with the greatest capacity building needs including fragile states. Together with surveillance and lending capacity development is a critical tool to promote economic stability and growth among IMF members.
